Graduation season can be so busy! There are so many things to think about and plan. Here’s your graduation checklist of things to remember if you are graduating from a high school in Eugene or the University of Oregon!
You know you will wear a cap and gown, but what else? Do you have cords? A sash? What about your actual outfit under your cap and gown? It’s important to follow whatever the dress code set by your school is, but also to be true to your style. As a photographer, I think neutral colors (especially under gowns because you want to match, not clash with your gown color) are the most flattering for all skin types. Make sure to wear appropriate footwear that is both formal and comfortable. You can find some ideas for outfits here and here.
Often families like to plan a graduation party for their graduates at their house or another venue. This is a time to spend with family members and friends. Often, graduates will also be invited to the parties their friends are having as well. It is a fun and busy time. Do you need gift ideas for graduates? Usually, high schools have events leading up to graduation day which could include senior breakfast, graduation practice, baccalaureate, and senior class graduation party. Events at the University of Oregon vary by program but include various graduations (the main one and one per school) and a GradFest event where families can go to celebrate together.
The last thing on this graduation checklist is graduation photo sessions. This is your time to celebrate! On graduation day, you’ll be surrounded by family and friends throughout all the various celebrations. You’ll get some photos, but often things are so busy that you don’t get any great pictures of you in your cap and gown. This is where graduation photo sessions are the best option. When you schedule a session outside of the craziness of the graduation events, you will get professional and beautiful portraits to always remember this time instead of blurry, crooked cell phone pictures.
