The day has come! You receive that email letting you know that your photographer has edited and prepared an online gallery full of beautiful images from your recent family or senior session. Getting your gallery back is one of the best feelings! Looking at those beautiful masterpieces of you and your family makes you giddy!
But what do you do with that gallery and all those beautiful images? Do you download and share them on social media? Maybe make one of them your iPhone lock screen photo? Beautiful images aren’t meant to just live in the digital space. Print your photos! They are made to be printed and enjoyed in spaces like your home or office, and the homes of your friends and family. You would be amazed how many people don’t professionally print their pictures anymore.
It’s time to start printing our photos for the following reasons:
How many times have you been on your computer or phone, and the website or app just crashed? I have had my computer force an exit out of browsers, editing softwares, and other programs numerous times. When I am done editing and delivering online galleries, I back up all of my photos on my iCloud and several hard drives because technology is not guaranteed. The same goes for your online gallery. The code or website might expire, leaving your photos gone – nowhere to be found.
This is another big reason why I tell my clients to order prints. High quality canvases, prints, and heirloom albums will be keepsakes for the rest of your life. Your family, children, and future generations will enjoy looking at these precious family treasures.
One of my favorite parts about my home is the photos hanging on my walls. I have pictures from the significant milestones and ordinary days throughout the years. I have photos of my family, friends, and other loved ones in almost every room. Looking back on the memories of my prints brings me a lot of joy.
One of the biggest compliments to me as a photographer is when a client tells me they’ve printed photos, framed them, and hung them in their home. A house is not a home until you create a place to celebrate your family with memories and laughter. Seeing your prints will spark joy, happiness, and gratitude for your family. It also makes for great storytelling. A visitor may ask about a particular photo. Memories make great conversation starters!
I recently discovered that children who have photos printed out and displayed in their homes have higher self-esteem. In an article by The Baltimore Sun, Dr. Krauss, a Cleveland clinical psychologist, says,
“It says to a child, ‘I’m important in this family.'” It also shows a child they are meaningfully connected to others in the pictures. Favorite photos in a child’s room can enhance the feeling of safety or offer stimulation. Article by Ro Logrippo (see the article here)
I love displaying family photos to remind us of the happy times we’ve experienced together. I also love to show my kids photos of them growing up in our family, but after reading this article, it became clear that this is more important than I even realized. The best thing you can do with your family photos is print them. Print them to hang on your walls or to display in albums. Print them to put into frames that live around your house.
I know life gets busy and sometimes “printing family photos” falls to the bottom of my to-do list. Is this you too? If you’ve booked a session with me in the past, you can get prints of your photos and albums directly from your gallery. My gallery site makes it very easy to order.
Have you ever received a gift that you absolutely cherish to this day? Printing your photos can make marvelous gifts for family and friends. Booking family sessions and printing the images will allow your family members to cherish them for a long time. Your children and the future generations of your family will love to have these photos to reminisce about your significant accomplishments and milestones.
Leaving your images in an online gallery won’t allow some of your loved ones to see or enjoy them. I know that you can share links to galleries via email or text, but what about those older relatives who can’t access the internet? If you want to capture and create some beautiful memories for your entire family to enjoy for years to come, contact me to book a session. After your session, we’ll discuss how easy it is to print your beautiful images and I know you’ll be so glad you did!
